The BC Lions official team training camp kicked off Sunday at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops getting ready for play at their new home for 2010, Empire Field.

With a new season on the horizon and a new beautiful stadium the BC Lions are focused on finding the right ingredients for a championship team.

"Last night I had some butterflies in the stomach," said Dennis Skulsky, president and CEO of the Lions.

Fresh off their first team dinner and meeting, Skulsky is excited and confident the talent, personnel and chemistry is all in the Lions training. The trick is putting it all together.

"We got lots of skill and talent on this team," said Skulsky.

"We're not that far away, and with all the right ingredients, team chemistry, good game plan, solid coaching, I think we're in good shape."

It may sound like a tall bill for a Lions team said to be rebuilding, but Skulsky thinks rebuilding is just a cliché every team uses at the beginning of each season.

"People always talk about rebuilding, but you know, we rebuild every year in sports," Skulsky said.

The Lions team is not the only thing under construction at the moment either. Empire Field is almost complete and the Lions are only two weeks away from starting a new tradition is their temporary home.

"I don't think I've ever seen a venue come together like that," said Skulsky. "The nicest thing is, the feel in that bowl and that playing field and with that stadium is going to be outstanding."

Skulsky said fans can expect a new football experience. Fans truly will be a part of the team. The 28,000 seats are so close to the field. Skulsky said spectators will fell like they're a part of each team huddle and part of that line of scrimmage.

Lions training camp continues all this week as the 2010 Grey Cup hopeful team begins to take shape.
