A shooting that took place in Burnaby in the early hours of Saturday morning is Metro Vancouver's latest homicide, police say.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and Burnaby RCMP are currently on the scene after neighbours in south Burnaby heard gunfire at about 3 a.m.
The victim was shot while standing outside of a vehicle on Portland Street near Patterson Avenue, a residential area, which is blocked off to traffic indefinitely.
Cpl. Dale Carr of IHIT said the male victim is Indo-Canadian, but could not say whether he was known to police.
The victim's name and age is not being released at this time.
Police will not say whether the shooting is gang related.
