RCMP homicide investigators are looking into the deaths of an elderly couple after their bodies were found in their home on Friday.

Police were called to the 12000 block of 71A Avenue in Surrey at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday, after the bodies of the couple were found by their daughter.

The man and woman, who were both in their 60s, had lived in the basement suite of the home for the past seven years.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is on the case, but police have not said the deaths are homicides.

Police are releasing very few details about the case but the couple was not known to them.

Paul Mann, a neighbour, says he often saw the couple walking outdoors with their grandchildren.

"You start wondering what happened how it happened why it happened," he said.

Another neighbour, who declined to give her name, said she is concerned, especially because there are many children who live in the area.

"There is a lot of anxiety about what happened ... at the very least we should get some information as to what happened, to settle our minds," she said.
