The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team responded to two possible homicides overnight.

A body was recovered from the Fraser River just after midnight. A tug boat operator came across the body around 8 p.m. under the Knight Street Bridge.

It appears the body was in the water for quite some time. The police are treating the discovery as suspicious -- at least until an autopsy is performed later today.

In a second case, a 40-year-old man was shot to death on the doorstep of his Abbotsford home.

Police were called to reports of shots fired on Kipling Street near Kaslo Terrace just before 11 p.m.

Witnesses reported hearing two to six shots. Police say the man was well known to them. They are looking for late-model silver SUV - possibly a European make - that may be connected to the shooting.
