You will soon be able to enjoy a beer on the greens at select Vancouver municipal golf courses.

The Vancouver Park Board approved a plan Monday night to allow the sale of liquor at the McCleery, Langara and Fraserview courses.

The changes will take effect next spring.

The move is intended to make city-run courses competitive with the private sector, who already sell liquor and spirits.

Commissioner Aaron Jasper said that many people are already openly drinking on the city-run facilities and the plan will allow the board to earn more revenue.

The board also approved its three-year fiscal plan, which includes a new roof for the Blodel Conservatory. The old Stanley Park petting zoo will also receive a First Nation cultural centre focusing on the historic relationship between First Nations people and Stanley Park.
