Layritz 11, West Vancouver 2

The sun continued to scorch Justin Morneau Field on Day 5 of the B.C. Little League Championship.

Layritz loaded the bases against West Vancouver and claimed an 11-2 victory Wednesday afternoon.

The Victoria-based team improved to 2-2 in tournament play with the win and sits fourth in the overall standings.

West Vancouver dropped to 1-4 in round-robin play and sits sixth in the overall standings.

Layritz bats connected for 11 hits during the game and the team had three errors.

West Vancouver had seven hits and one error.

Little Mountain 8, Hastings 0

The two top teams in the B.C. Little League Championship went head to head in Wednesday's midday matchup at Justin Morneau Field.

Little Mountain extended their unbeated streak to four games, beating Hastings 8-0.

Little Mountain's bats were as hot as the blistering sun, accumulating 13 hits in the game, while Hastings collected just a single hit.

Hastings had two errors and Little Mountain had one during the game.

Little Mountain remains seated on top of the B.C. Little League Championship standings. Hastings dropped one spot in the standings to third with a record of 3-2.

Whalley is in second place holding a record of 3-1 and is back in action tomorrow.

New Westminster 6, Trail 8

Trail ran away with their first win of the B.C. Little League Championship defeating the host team, New Westminster 8-6 on Wednesday night at Justin Morneau Field.

Trail had their bats swinging registering 10 hits durnig the game and also recording one error.

New Westminster had seven hits and one error in the contest.

Trail now moves up in the overall standings to sixth place, while New Westminster sits in fifth after the loss.

Both teams are in action again tomorrow aganist the tournament's toughest competition so far. Trail is up against Whalley while New Westminster will battle with Little Mountain who have yet to loose a game.
