A group opposed to BC Hydro smart meters is seeking an injunction against the program.

The group is asking the BC Utilities Commission to stop Hydro from activating the wireless component of the meters, which beam power consumption readings back to Hydro using wireless signals.

The group claims the meters can violate consumer's privacy, the Utilities Commission has been left out of the approval process for the meters, and should be acting in the public interest to protect the health, privacy and safety of consumers.

No one from the Utilities Commission has been available to comment on the injunction request.
