A B.C. Supreme Court jury has found a 31-year-old Langley man guilty of killing two Fraser Valley sex trade workers.

Davey Mato Butorac was convicted by a New Westminster jury Thursday night after less than five hours of deliberations.

Butorac was accused in the murders of 46-year-old Gwendolyn Jo Lawton of Abbotsford and Sheryl Lynn Koroll, 50, of Langley.

Both women were believed to be involved in drugs and prostitution. Lawton's body was found on a gravel road, while Koroll's body was discovered by workers in an industrial area near Langley. Both victims were strangled and beaten.

Police said the victims were targeted because "their killer saw an opportunity to take advantage of their vulnerable lifestyles.''

The Crown linked Butorac to the women through DNA evidence, including blood on his shoes.

Prosecutors said it had a one in 200 billion chance of coming from anyone but Koroll.

He was arrested in January 2008.
