A British man has been expelled from Canada after pleading guilty to trying to lure a 13-year-old Vancouver girl into having sex.

The RCMP say 23-year-old Rachata Burasite of Essex was arrested at Vancouver airport last July after admitting he was coming to Canada to see the girl.

Const. Rosiane Racine says police found child sex abuse images on his cell phone during a search of his belongings.

He was charged with child luring over the Internet and pleaded guilty in October.

On Monday he was sentenced to six months in jail, but since he spent more than two months in custody before his plea, his sentence was considered as time served and Burasite was sent back to England.

Racine says the family of the intended victim was told about the incident and Mounties also passed on information about Burasite to British police.
