A new poll commissioned by the City of Vancouver shows strong support for a bike-only lane on the Burrard street bridge.

As a three month trial project, the city closed one vehicle lane on the span heading into downtown Vancouver and dedicated it solely to bikes.

City officials say a poll released yesterday reveals supporters who want to continue the trial outnumber opponents two-to-one.

The poll, of 310 downtown residents, also shows 90 per cent of cyclists support continuation of the project, along with 79 per cent of pedestrians.
