Abbotsford Police are searching for answers after a garbage bag containing blood-soaked clothing was discovered in an alley Monday evening.

Police say the bag was found near a locked dumpster in the 33100-block of South Fraser Way at about 5:00 p.m. Officers extracted a pair of size 28 blue jeans, a black-checkered short sleeved shirt, as well as a blood-stained comforter.

Const. Ian MacDonald says the clothes are not distinguishably male or female, and that the victim may not have been wearing them when they were injured.

"It's possible the clothes were used to sop up some of the blood," MacDonald said.

But due to the freshness of the blood - and the quantity of it found in the bag - police worry there may be an individual in distress.

"Our fear is that somebody suffered an injury, we don't know the nature of it, but that they need medical attention."

Investigators believe the bag was dumped between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., and are looking for witnesses who may have seen someone trying to access the dumpster around that time.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
