Another charge has been laid against a B.C. substitute teacher accused of sexual assault against his students.

Crown counsel confirmed Friday that Coquitlam teacher Aleksandr Plehanov now faces a charge of sexual touching by a person in a position of power.

The latest charge relates to an alleged October, 2009, incident.

This is the 10th charge for Plehanov, 35, who has already been charged with three counts each of sexual interference, sexual exploitation and sexual assault. He has been released on bail with 13 conditions pending his next scheduled court appearance on June 3.

All three alleged victims were between seven and eight years old, police say, and in the same Grade 3 class. The latest charge relates to alleged incidents at a different Coquitlam school.

Parents of students who say they were sexually assaulted by Plehanov told CTV News earlier this month that they don't understand why the school district didn't step in sooner.

One alleged victim's father, who can't be named to protect the identity of his daughter, said the RCMP only found out about the allegations when he called them March 10, six month after another group of parents claim to have complained to the school district.
