A 35-year-old substitute teacher has been charged with nine sex-related offences involving Coquitlam, B.C., elementary school students.
Aleksandr Vladimirovich Plehanov was arrested at his Burnaby home on March 18 after police learned three female Grade 3 students had reported being touched inappropriately at school.
All three victims were between seven and eight years old, police say.
Plehanov has been charged with three counts each of sexual interference, sexual exploitation and sexual assault. He was released on bail with 13 conditions pending his next scheduled court appearance on June 3.
Conditions include that Plehanov have no communication with anyone 14 years old or younger or work around anyone 14 years old or younger.
He is instructed to remain 300 metres away from public schools, daycare centres, swimming pools, playgrounds, skating rinks or parks where children under the age of 16 years old could be expected.
Plehanov is also prohibited from possessing weapons or imitation weapons, firearms or imitation firearms, and must carry a copy of his release conditions at all times.
Investigators believe there may be children who have not come forward, and published a list of the 41 district schools Plehanov has worked at over the past three years, available below.
Concerned parents are advised to contact their child's school directly to determine if they were ever instructed by Plehanov.
