More than 1,500 ICBC workers at 55 claims-related locations are expected to strike throughout the province next week, their union announced Tuesday.
The Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union announced the government employees are planning a one-day strike on Sept. 18.
COPE President David Black said the workers have been without a contract for two years while ICBC executives and management received massive salary increases.
This is the second day of job action for ICBC workers in less than two weeks.
“Our members felt it was very important to take another day of action so they could talk to the public about how the government is mishandling ICBC, not just for the workers but also for drivers that haven’t seen a rate reduction in years,” said Black.
