Officials in Salmon Arm are stunned by a trio alleged to have sparked a fire at an elementary school Sunday.

That’s because the youth accused of setting the school on fire are 10, eight and six years old, according to Salmon Armp RCMP.

The fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. Sunday at South Broadview School. Officials say a window was broken and flaming debris thrown inside a classroom.

Crews managed to contain the blaze to the classroom and made quick work of the flames.

Mounties aren’t saying what, if any, action might be taken against the children because they’re all too young to face formal charges.
