Temperature records tumbled across B.C. yesterday and more records could fall in the southern Interior today as a heat wave continues to bake the province.

Vancouver shattered the previous all-time high record set in 1944, as the mercury nudged 26 degrees yesterday, but cooler conditions will be in effect today.

That's not the case in the Okanagan and southeastern B.C., where another day or two of heat in the high 20s is forecast and -- after a brief respite on Thursday -- is expected to return for another long stretch.

Environment Canada is calling for 28 degree temperatures again in Fort St. John today, meaning no rest for fire crews facing unseasonable heat and gusty winds fuelling wildfires in that region.
