The man suspected of killing Thi Tam Nguyen was found hanging in a park early Sunday afternoon.

Cong “Danny” Nguyen, 31, was found near Gladstone Park in South Vancouver. Police were called to a trail off East Kent Avenue early Sunday afternoon. According to Vancouver police, a 13-year-old was walking along the trail with their mother when they found the man hanging in a tree just after 1 p.m. Police and paramedics attended the scene and attempted to revive the man but he was pronounced dead.

Nguyen was wanted in connection with the murder of his ex-wife. Tam, 27, was found dead in her home at approximately 3:30 p.m. Saturday and police said the incident was not random.

“We now have a four-year-old with no mother and father as a result of a domestic violence issue,” said Cst. Brian Montague of the Vancouver Police Department.

“As you can tell from this situation and others recently, [domestic violence is] still a real concern,” Montague said. “Violence against women is obviously not tolerable. People’s attitudes need to change around it.”

Danny Nguyen was charged with assault in 2011 and police were called to the house for a domestic disturbance in 2013.

Nguyen’s landlord Ben Le said Tam was quiet and hardworking.

“She was quiet, very nice [person], very friendly,” Le said.

The son of the deceased woman, a four-year-old boy, was taken to stay with family and friends.

Police did not release Tam’s cause of death.
