A massive fire cut through the main building of a popular U-pick berry farm in Abbotsford overnight.

About 50 firefighters were called to Maan Farms just before 1 a.m. with a building fully engulfed in flames.

The fire quickly spread through the barn that houses a storefront as well as a restaurant.

"Due to location, size of the fire and the extent of the fire when we got on scene it took a little bit of work to get water supplies established," said Assistant Fire Chief Ron Hull. "The top floor is completely burned off."

The blaze comes right at the peak of berry-picking season, a major source of income for the farm.

No one was badly injured, but one firefighter is being monitored for heat exposure.

The cause is under investigation.
