CTV British Columbia officially launched CTV News Digital Edition, a three-minute local noon newscast designed specifically for mobile smartphones.

Hosted by CTV British Columbia News Anchor Coleen Christie weekdays at 12 p.m., CTV News Digital Edition is the first local mobile newscast of its kind in the market. It is free to watch and requires no app, allowing viewers to watch the newscast easily and conveniently at ctvnewsatnoon.ctv.ca.

Every CTV News Digital Edition will be available to view for 24 hours until the following weekday at noon. The app-free design makes CTV British Columbia the first news organization to use this format for a daily newscast and also makes the West Coast station the first in the CTV family to do so.

"The launch of CTV News Digital Edition at noon provides Canadians with compelling news stories, wherever they are," said Tom Haberstroh, vice-president and general manager of CTV British Columbia. "We can deliver nine snackable stories plus weather in a three-minute newscast, and we're the only ones doing it locally."

"Because the newscast is app-free, there is no downloading, no hunting and viewers are not tethered to a computer. Instead, they have a very streamlined user experience, which is important to busy Canadians," said Heron Hanuman, producer of the CTV News Digital Edition and manager of ctvbc.ca. "The launch of this mobile newscast delivers exactly what users want: a convenient, innovative, compelling and useful tool for news."
