Adele’s recent trip to a Vancouver ice cream shop triggered a bump in sales after she talked about the visit at her concert.

While on stage at her Vancouver show last Thursday, the superstar singer talked about the Double Oreo flavour ice cream from the Yaletown shop “Mister.” A video of the shout-out posted to Facebook has been viewed more than 9,000 times.

“I had a Double Oreo. It was very nice. I’m not supposed to have chocolate on show days but I did,” said the singer.

Mister has only been open for two months, and their most popular flavour until now has been the crème brulee. But since the Adele shout-out, people have been coming in asking to have what she ordered.

“We definitely saw a spike in sales for the Double Oreo,” said Mister owner Tommy Choi.

Mister’s ice cream is made in-house and from scratch using liquid nitrogen. Adele’s three-year-old son was particularly curious about how the ice cream is made.

"Her son was asking, 'What's this?' and Adele said, 'it's a magic potion,’” Choi said.

There have been several recent examples of celebrities adding some extra sheen to local businesses with their star power.

Actor Neil Patrick Harris took a trip to Tofino in April and posted a photo of his meal at the Wolf in the Fog restaurant. The photo has been liked nearly 75,000 times. A video he posted walking down a local beach has been viewed more than 386,000 times and has nearly 3,000 comments.

“Most celebrities today have very significant social media following,” said Charles McDiarmid, managing director of the Wickaninnish Inn, another Tofino location Harris posted about on Instagram. “It definitely adds to the cachet of the Tofino brand, if you will, of the destination.”

Jimmy Fallon ate at Vancouver restaurant Le Crocodile in April, and a video of him singing a barbershop quartet style version of R. Kelly’s song Ignition has more than 154,000 views on YouTube.
