Three men remain in police custody following a home invasion that sent two people to hospital in Nanaimo, B.C. Saturday morning.

RCMP Sgt. Sheryl Armstrong said the suspects arrived at an apartment building in the 4700-block of Uplands Drive around 6:50 a.m. One of the men forced his way into a suite through a window and began repeatedly punching a 30-year-old Vancouver woman who was inside.

A 60-year-old male caretaker attempted to stop the men when they tried to flee, but he was kicked in the face.

Mounties responded to a 911 call and brought in a police dog handler to help track the suspects.

Two Nanaimo men in their early 20s have been arrested, as well as a Vancouver man in his 20s.

The young woman and the caretaker were taken by ambulance to the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for treatment.
