There was no shortage of ideas on how to crack down on gang violence as about a 100 people gathered at a town hall meeting in Vancouver last night.
The meeting, organized by Vancouver Liberal M.P. Ujjal Dosanjh, heard former gang member Jim Mendelin call for more efforts to stop kids from getting into gangs in the first place.
Mahara Sinclair joined others in suggesting that marijuana should be legalized, saying you can't legislate morality.
Others at the meeting called for a regional police force, longer sentences and more community supports for young people and poor families.
In an ironic twist during the meeting, Dosanjh had to explain to the crowd that some reporters were leaving because of reports of another shooting in Vancouver.
