RCMP say a man stumbled into a Burnaby Shell Station after being shot in the chest at his nearby home early Sunday.
The 29-year-old was taken to hospital after the attendant called 911, and is expected to undergo surgery.
Police say that they have spoken to him about the shooting, and he not co-operating. They believe it was a targeted shooting, although they say it is too early to determine whether it was a gang or drug-related incident. The man has no criminal record, they added.
There were early reports a silver vehicle was seen speeding from the scene.
The neighbourhood, which has a number of high-rise apartment towers, was the scene of a fatal shooting in 2007.
The man is the 36th person shot since the late January in Metro Vancouver. Fifteen of the victims have died.
