Spokesman Ed Troyer says the officers were greeted at the door by one brother, while the other was in the house arming himself.

The second brother then allegedly opened fire on the officers, hitting one multiple times.

Troyer says the officers were able to return fire and kill the shooter.

One officer was airlifted to a Seattle hospital and is in critical condition.

The other has been taken to a medical centre in Tacoma in serious condition.

Three weeks ago, four Lakewood police officers were shot and killed at a suburban coffee shop in Parkland, Washington.
