Two people are dead and a third is in hospital after a single-vehicle crash near Merritt.

RCMP Cpl. Mike Pears says two men and a woman were travelling inside a pickup truck Sunday when the vehicle went off the road and rolled over.

Pears says all three occupants were thrown from the truck.

The male driver and a male passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, while a female passenger was transported to hospital in serious condition.

Pears says investigators have determined that the crash was survivable, had the vehicle's occupants been wearing their seatbelts.

Names of the victims, who are all residents of the Merritt area, have not been released.
