Mounties have arrested two persons of interest after a triple stabbing in Surrey, B.C. early Monday morning.

Police said they were called to an apartment building near 108 Avenue and University Drive at around 2 a.m.

Police found a 39-year-old man in the underground parking lot of the complex with serious injuries to his abdomen. He was taken to hospital and is in stable condition. Two other men in their 30s were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and were later released.

Residents of the building said the fire alarm went off during the incident and when they started to evacuate they found a trail of blood leading outside.

“When I got to the elevator there was a big pool of blood in it,” resident Matt Anderson told CTV News. “When I got downstairs there were a bunch of cops yelling about a crime scene."

Although there was no fire in the building, the alarm and evacuation created a “chaotic scene,” according to witnesses.

Surrey RCMP said the victims are all known to police for various drug offences and are known to each other.

The police are still investigating and have not released any information about the two people in custody.
