A pair of tourists from Texas found a loaded gun inside their rental car while changing a flat tire in the parking lot of their hotel during a road trip to Victoria on Sunday morning.
A 55-year-old tourist found a Glock 27.40-calibre pistol with three loaded magazines inside the wheel well of a Chrysler 300 he had rented near the Seattle-Tacoma airport before driving into Canada on vacation. He was travelling with his wife and another couple from Dallas, and entered Canada though the Peace Arch border crossing.
The gun is not registered in the Canadian firearms database and the Victoria Police Department is passing on its information to officers in Seattle to investigate the gun, officials said in a press release.
The handgun model is prohibited in Canada due to its shortened barrel length, but it is commonly used by law enforcement officers.
