Vancouver police say they've had an unprecedented response to this week's campaign to plaster the region with 70,000 posters picturing suspects in the Stanley Cup riot.

Integrated Riot Investigation Team commander Insp. Les Yeo says that in less than 24 hours since the posters went up Thursday morning, police have received 150 tips online, 60 by phone and "dozens and dozens" through people approaching volunteers and officers in person.

The posters feature the faces of 100 unidentified suspected rioters, including five young men accused of assaulting Good Samaritan Robert MacKay when he tried to stop a mob of people from smashing windows at The Bay.

A team of 340 volunteers and 70 police officers put up the posters in 19 cities across Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Vancouver Island. Anyone with information about the suspects featured on the poster can visit the riot team's website.

To date, prosecutors have approved 177 charges against 67 alleged rioters.
