A young man charged with participating in Vancouver's Stanley Cup riot has pleaded guilty, saying he understands that what he did was wrong but wants to move on.

Fernando Bernabe, 20, entered the plea in Vancouver provincial court Tuesday and told reporters after that he regrets what he did.

"I know what I did was wrong, so I can't fight it," the Burnaby man said. "It's a hassle having it. I don't want to be having to go to court all the time."

Bernabe said he was very drunk when he joined the chaos downtown on June 15, 2011 and doesn't remember exactly what he did.

"It was an in-the-moment kind of thing. Everyone was sad that the Canucks lost, but it shouldn't have happened," he said. "I'm sorry to do that to the city."

He now hopes to go back to school for culinary arts. At the time of the riot, he worked for an insurance company, but he can't hold a licence because of the criminal proceedings against him.

Two charges of mischief are still outstanding against Bernabe. He is scheduled to have a sentencing hearing on Nov. 13.

A total of 15 people have now pleaded guilty in connection to the riot. Timothy Tin-Chew Kwong also pleaded guilty Tuesday and will make a pre-sentencing appearance on Nov. 30. Twenty-year-old Connor Epp entered his plea Monday to participating in a riot and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Aug. 10.

More charges recommended

The Integrated Riot Investigation Team also announced another wave of 19 charges Tuesday against seven more people suspected of participating in the riot.

The latest round includes three teenage boys from Sidney, all charged with participating in a riot and mischief. None of the youths can be named because of their age.

The remaining accused rioters include:

  • Christopher Moewes, 24, of Richmond, who is charged with participating in a riot and break and enter.
  • Harkamal Bhullar, 18, of Richmond, who is charged with participating in a riot and two counts of mischief.
  • Rajinder Sandhu, 23, of Richmond, who is charged with participating in a riot and three counts of mischief.
  • Patrick Judge, 25, of Port Moody, who is charged with participating in a riot, break and enter and two counts of mischief.
