If everything goes Ricky Foley's way, the BC Lions defensive end may have played his last game in the Canadian Football League.

Foley is reportedly scheduled to meet and workout with the New England Patriots of the National Football League on Thursday.

The Patriots, who have lacked a dangerous pass rush for the past two seasons, are hoping a player like Foley -- the CFL Canadian Player of the Year -- could help fix the Pats most glaring defensive problem.

Foley was tied for the CFL sack lead in 2009 with 12 sacks. In his last three seasons the defensive end racked up 20 sacks

According to his agent, Paul Sheehy, the Patriots are not the only team interested in the Ontario-native. On Tuesday, Foley met with the New York Jets and has a future meeting scheduled with the St. Louis Rams.

It is widely believed NFL teams are hoping Foley could be the second coming of Cameron Wake. Wake punished CFL quarterbacks for two seasons, as a member of the Lions, before the Miami Dolphins came calling last off-season. Foley took Wake's position on the Lions defensive line and did not disappoint.

NFL teams have already plucked several Lions this off-season. Rolly Lumbala and Ryan Grice-Mullen were signed to contracts by the Dolphins, while running back Martell Mallett was signed last month by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Foley is scheduled to become a CFL free agent at midnight on February 15. Foley's goal is to make a NFL squad, but if he is unsuccessful he would have no issues on returning to the CFL to possibly play for the Lions.
