Shakespeare helped keep a Vancouver woman in the dark Wednesday night about winning this year's PNE prize home.

Cecilia Garcia, 61, was volunteering at the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare event and had turned off her cell phone.

By the time she got home more than three hours later she had over 60 messages on her answering machine from family, friends and others congratulating her on her win.

Garcia, a hairdresser, said she's still absorbing the news and feels "pretty good".

She didn't take a tour of the house during the fair because the line-up was too long. "I look at the outside because of the lineup. And I think I knew it was mine and I'd see it later," she said.

The home and related prizes are valued at $1.2 million and will eventually be relocated to Kelowna.

Garcia said she's not sure yet if she'll keep the home, but says she has no plans to move out of her condominium in Vancouver's Kitsilano neighbourhood.
