Chilliwack RCMP believe an arsonist may be at work after three separate fires were sparked over a two-hour span early Tuesday morning.

The first was reported at around 1:30 a.m. at a home on Margaret Avenue, where a garage was lit up in a blaze investigators believe to be intentionally set.

At 3:20 a.m., police responded to a suspicious bush fire on Coventry Place, followed by another 12 minutes later on Hocking Avenue. In both cases, the bushes were located very close to buildings.

"These are of obvious concern to us because of the potential for damage and injury to people who may be in these structures at the time," Const. Tracy Wolbeck said in a release.

"Although the damage in these three cases was minimal, the potential is enormous if they continue."

Anyone with information on the fires is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
