A shooting in the Vancouver suburb of Port Moody that left one man in hospital on Tuesday evening, was targeted and not a random event, police said on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old driver of a black Mercedes was shot in the head and found slumped near the vehicle in the 2000 block of Highview Place near Cecile Drive at about 9 p.m.

The victim is known to police and is co-operating, police said, but added the incident does not appear to be gang-related at this point in the investigation.

His injuries are non-life-threatening, and he is expected to recover.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Port Moody Police Department or Crimestoppers.
