A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for an Ontario man charged with sexual assault who police say could be hiding in the Vancouver area.

Last December, York Regional Police were called to a business in Vaughan, Ont., after a man arrived who was believed to be in violation of a court order.

Police say the suspect, 27-year-old Andrew Scott Houghton of Markham, Ont., had previously been charged with assault-related incidents against a woman he knew.

Houghton fled the business before police showed up and he is now wanted on charges including sexual assault, criminal harassment and breaching a court order.

Police warn he is considered violent and should not be approached.

Houghton is described as Caucasian, 5-5 tall, 180 lbs., has brown hair that is normally shaved and blue eyes. He has a tattoo on his left ankle and right forearm and may be driving a 2006 red four-door Dodge Charger with the Ontario licence plate BJHH 386.
