Police in Coquitlam, B.C. are making an appeal for witnesses to come forward and give information about a hit-and-run crash that killed two young women two weeks ago.

Mother-of-four Charlene Reaveley, 30, and 26-year-old Lorraine Cruz were killed instantly after they were struck by a white Jeep Grand Cherokee as they stood on the shoulder of Lougheed Highway in Coquitlam on Feb. 19.

Cory Sater, a 37-year-old Coquitlam resident, faces 10 criminal charges in connection to the crash, including dangerous driving causing death, impaired driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

Police say the women were hit while Reaveley was helping Cruz out of her SUV after she was involved in a minor accident.

Investigators are now looking for the occupants of a Chevrolet Uplander minivan who had stopped to offer their help at the scene of the first crash. Those witnesses left the area before the hit-and-run collision.

At least two other vehicles were stopped on Lougheed Highway waiting to turn left onto Pitt River Road when Reaveley and Cruz were hit. RCMP believe the people inside of those cars might have seen the fatal crash.

Finally, police are hoping to speak with witnesses who talked to investigators after the crash, but were not asked to give formal written statements or contact information.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Coquitlam RCMP.

Sater remains in police custody as he awaits his next court appearance Thursday.
