The murder toll in Metro Vancouver hit double digits Sunday after authorities confirmed a body found on a rural South Surrey road was the result of murder.

The body, badly burned according to some reports, was found in the area of Colebrook Road near 125th Street.

Mounties have not confirmed the gender, identity or cause of death of the victim.

The grisly discovery marked Metro Vancouver’s 10th murder in less than two months.

Surrey RCMP was called to the 12100 block of Colebrook Road at around noon Sunday.

After officers deemed it a likely homicide, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called in and took over the case, said Cpl. Bari Emam.

Last month a body was found in the same area of Colebrook Road not far from the Delta Golf Course.

Authorities determined Jaskaran Singh Sandhu, 26, was the victim of a targeted murder, but didn't confirm any gang connections to the crime.
