The Vancouver area's world-class water will be even better, thanks to a new water filtration plant -- the largest in Canada.
The technology at the Seymour-Capilano plant was required to filter water as part of the federal government's more stringent drinking-water regulations.
Metro Vancouver, a federation of 22 member municipalities, contributed the lion's share of the estimated $428 million cost of the plant.
Spokesman Bill Morrell says the new technology means the amount of turbidity in the region's water will be lowered to prevent it from appearing muddy or cloudy from time to time, although that hasn't been a health risk.
Besides Metro Vancouver, the project also includes funding from Ottawa and Victoria, along with grant money from the local government.
