Police are investigating the gruesome discoveries of three mutilated dead cats in the Interior city of Kelowna, B.C.

On July 20, a homeowner in the Glenmore area found her pet cat, decapitated and with its front paws removed, inside a plastic bag on the road outside of her Pheasant Street home. Her garage door had also been spray-painted.

Nine days later, a Rutland-area resident found part of a cat's body on the road in front of her home. RCMP say there was nothing on the remains to indicate that the cat had died from either an animal attack or a vehicle collision.

The third mutilated car was discovered on a front lawn in Glenmore on Tuesday. A resident on Coronation Road woke in the morning to fine a dead cat lying on their front lawn -- it appeared to have been strangled to death with a piece of rope or wire.

In that case, the cat's discoverer had reported their vehicle stolen one day earlier.

Mounties are investigating all three incidents, which they describe as "disturbing crimes," but have not yet determined if they are connected.
