Heavy metal megastars Metallica need an audience to appear in their upcoming 3D concert movie, and are offering Vancouver fans a chance to take part for roughly the price of a stadium hot dog.

The band announced it will be following up its full-priced Friday and Saturday night shows at Rogers Arena, where tickets range from $66 to $144 including service charges, with a much more economical third performance on Monday.

Tickets are going for just $5, with no extra fees or charges, and all proceeds will benefit the Greater Vancouver Food Bank – but the low price does come with a catch.

“We will be running through the full live show one last time,” a message on the Metallic website reads, “but unlike the Friday and Saturday shows there will be lots of breaks in it to allow for the cameras and lights to be repositioned as the director sees fit.”

Fans are still asked to stick around for the entire show, but are promised a “full night of fun and games” in return.

Parts of the band’s upcoming concert movie, referred to online as Metalli-3D, were previously filmed in Mexico City and Edmonton.

Tickets are going to be available for presale on Ticketmaster Friday morning at 9 a.m., with passwords available through the Metallica website. The remaining tickets will be available on Sunday.
