The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called to a property in Surrey, B.C., after a man's body was found on the driveway Thursday morning.

Mounties discovered the body after being called to the area of 176th Street and 23rd Avenue at around 7 a.m. with a report of shots fired.

The victim has been identified as 51-year-old Randall William Davis. He is connected to the illegal drug trade, with three drug-related convictions in 1998, 2007 and 2010.

Cpl. Dale Carr said a neighbour was carjacked shortly after the shooting. The vehicle was recovered later Thursday morning in another Lower Mainland community, which police have not named.

The neighbour was not harmed, Carr said.

Investigators have not determined if the victim lived in the area or if the incident is linked to drugs or gangs.
