The city has rejected a liquor licence application for a new nightclub planned for Vancouver's Trump Tower.

The building's developer had planned to open a Las Vegas-style club on the third floor, complete with a pool, swim-up bar and massive patio.

The club was to be modeled after Drai's Beachclub, a late-night party spot located on the Vegas strip. Drai's calls itself "the best club in Las Vegas," and includes a rooftop pool, giant indoor dance floor and afterhours room.

Advertisements had already been posted on the developer's website describing it as the "first ever Pool Bar & Nightclub" in Vancouver.

"Drais has reinvented the nightclub and this lavishly designed space will entertain the most coveted VIP parties and draw celebrated DJs from across the globe creating the preeminent entertainment venue in Vancouver," the site says

However, the club's liquor licence application was denied by city council Wednesday night due to concerns from area residents.
