Job-seekers looking to build up their resume this summer could get paid to hunt down pieces of Lego for a revered Vancouver-based writer and artist.

Believe it or not, it’s a real position – at least according to a post from Douglas Coupland’s Twitter account.

The famed author took to Twitter to share the unique job offer.

“Looking for a Vancouverite with a car to help me buy Lego online,” he said.

In a letter describing the position of “Lego Gatherer,” Coupland outlined the job’s requirements.

“I need someone who is familiar with the entire Lego online sales universe, and who is able to source and find quantities of the right pieces at a good price,” he wrote. “This will be an ongoing process for a few months. I won’t be paying hourly, but instead I’ll pay a contract price for the job.”

A car is a must, Coupland said.

Lego buffs are to send the author pictures of projects they’ve worked on, as well as “thoughts on how to wisely buy Lego online.”

Applicants can contact Coupland via his Twitter profile, @DougCoupland, to discuss the job further.

The novelist, artist and filmmaker was born in Germany and moved to Vancouver in the 60s.

He’s since written several critically acclaimed novels including Generation X, which helped popularize the term, and jPod, which turned into a short-lived television series.
