Mounties are searching for documentary filmmaker Warren Andrew Sill after his SUV was found abandoned near New Hazelton in northern B.C. earlier this week.

The 26-year-old Ohio man told family members he would be exploring the area for four to five days for a film on the Kermode bear, Const. Lesley Smith said in a news release.

Sill’s family hasn’t heard from him since July 4.

On July 10, RCMP received a complaint that Sill’s blue-grey Pontiac Torrent had been left at the entrance of Whisky Creek Trail and determined it had been parked there since July 5.

RCMP police dog services, Search and Rescue and volunteers are searching the forest that’s described as dense and very challenging. An ATV and helicopter are being used.

“The fact that this young man is not an avid hiker and he is not familiar with this terrain is very concerning,” Smith said.

Sill is 5-10, 180 lbs., has a medium build with short dirty blond hair and clean straight teeth. His SUV’s Ohio licence plate is EGW1699

Police are asking anyone with information about Warren Andrew Sill to contact the New Hazelton RCMP at (250) 842-5244 or to call 911 for immediate assistance.
