The City of Moose Jaw is reminding people with lead pipes in their home or yard, to take precautions to avoid becoming ill.

The city recently tested the drinking water in 54 homes with lead pipes. Traces of lead were detected in the water in nearly half of those homes.

To avoid problems with lead pipes the city recommends running your taps for 10 minutes, if you have been away from home for more than six hours, or installing some type of filtration system.

Lead pipes are often found in older neighbourhoods, not only in Moose Jaw, but several other communities in Saskatchewan.
