VANCOUVER - Wow! It has been a year already!

On January 28, 2008, CTV British Columbia officially launched its new and improved website. It started out with a bang and we soon discovered the importance of strong print writing, great images, engaging headlines and compelling video.

After a couple of slight domain name changes, some new faces on the online team, and a constant dedication to push the limits, ctvbc.ca has established itself as a leader among all CTV local sites and a destination for tens of thousands of visitors every day.

There have been millions of ctvbc.ca pages views this past year -- and new heights reached every week. Our national site, CTV.ca, has recognized our leadership in terms of design and features like 2010 Olympic content, NewsIdol, interactive maps, civic election results, ski report, quizzes and much more.

Our visitors are mostly British Columbians and Canadians from across the country, but ctvbc.ca is very popular with many Americans, Britons, Australians, and Germans. In fact, ctvbc.ca has had visitors from 184 countries around the world*. (Don't worry, we're reaching out to 11 remaining nations.)

The top five cities* our visitors come from are:

  • Vancouver
  • West Vancouver
  • Toronto
  • Victoria
  • Surrey

All of them have made the following pages quite popular:

Your Home. Your ONLINE News.

As we look toward the future -- one thing is clear -- social media and mobile is going to become a big part of how we connect with our readers online and our viewers on-air. In the coming weeks, you will see a greater integration of Facebook, Twitter, Mixx, and Digg to name a few. You will soon be able to sign up for daily breaking news and weather alerts, along with a morning and evening newsletter.

But this is just as much your site as it is our site so we would love to know what you think.

How are we doing?  What could we do to make ctvbc.ca better?
