Former Global BC reporter Ron Bencze has been arrested again after police say he breached the conditions of his release on bail for child sex charges.

Bencze is awaiting trial for nine sex charges involving three children and has been prohibited from having any contact with young people. Bencze has pleaded not guilty to each of those charges.

Surrey RCMP say he was spotted last month in an area frequented by children. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he turned himself in on Wednesday.

He now faces a new charge of breaching conditions, and has been released on a promise to appear in court next month.

He was initially charged in January with five charges of sexual assault, including sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching against one minor under the age of 16. The alleged offences go back to 2001, when the victim was only six years old.

This spring, the RCMP investigation into the matter resulted in further charges against the married father-of-three involving two more victims.

He was fired from his job at Global BC in April.
