Vancouver Transit Police dealt with a dummy Wednesday.
A Mercedes Benz was cruising in the eastbound HOV lane of Highway 1 when transit police spotted an odd sight. They pulled over the vehicle at around 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Sprott exit in Burnaby.
When they approached the vehicle, they confirmed what they thought they had seen; beside the driver, half of a female mannequin with a hoody over its head occupied the passenger seat.
"In my twenty eight years I have never encountered anything like that," Transit Police Service spokesperson Tom Seaman said. "We don't know where he got the mannequin from."
The driver, a 28-year-old man from Abbotsford, was fined $109 under Motor Vehicle Act regulations and his mannequin and its hoody were seized.
The driver may get his mannequin back pending court proceedings.
