Victoria police had blocked off a busy section of Douglas Street on Wednesday morning as they investigated a vehicle incident.

Police were focusing their investigation on a minivan, which had damage to its front end.

The Bluebird Cabs Ltd. van was behind police tape on Douglas Street between Yates and View streets.

Drivers should avoid the area while investigators are on scene.

Police would not comment on the investigation, but several witnesses told a CTV News camera operator that a female pedestrian was hit by the van.

The taxi driver and any potential pedestrian victim were not on scene at just after 7 a.m.
