The friends of a 21-year-old Langley woman who was killed in a tragic car crash on Good Friday are reaching out to Justin Bieber in hopes the heartthrob singer will honour her memory with a personal message.

Taylor Steyn was driving a Volkswagen Beetle in Surrey on the afternoon of April 6 when she crashed head-on with a semi truck. She died later that day in hospital.

In a letter posted online, her brother Miles describes Steyn as a Bieber megafan who sent the pop icon no less than 300 Twitter messages on his birthday in hopes that he would follow her account, @t_steynnn.

Days after her death, Steyn's wish came true – but her friends are hoping the singer will go one step further and send a personal tweet or film a video in advance of Steyn's memorial this weekend.

Jake Vandermeer issued the request in a YouTube video on Sunday, and it's since garnered more than 25,000 views.

"It's clearly a long shot and we understand that he's a very busy guy," Vandermeer said in the posting, "but we're really just holding out for a chance that we can honour Taylor in a very special way, as she's very special to all of us."

A Facebook group called Taylor's Beliebers  and the hashtag #taysbeliebers have also been used to drum up support for the cause.

Steyn's brother says her sister had been planning to tattoo lyrics from the classic Motown hit "My Girl" by The Temptations onto her stomach, and that the song would make a fitting tribute if Bieber could sing a few bars.

"For her to hear the words he lived by sung by Justin Bieber, she would be over the moon," he wrote.
