A man who died in a police shooting on Friday night has been identified as 61-year-old Surrey resident Gaetan Gilbert Plante.
The shooting followed an encounter with police near 98A Ave. in North Surrey. Plante was rushed to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster but was pronounced dead soon after arrival.
The Independent Investigations Office and the BC Coroners Service continue to examine the case.
The family of the victim has been notified but the Coroners Service did not provide any further information on the victim.
